Tips For Losing Weight with
the Raw Food Diet
One
of the main reasons that the raw food diet has gained so much popularity
is because it has proven to be an extremely effective way to lose weight.
Raw foods are so varied and healthy, it is difficult not to lose weight
while enjoying good food. But success with any weight loss is never
guaranteed. If your goal is to lose those extra pounds, you should
pay extra attention to the kind of raw foods you eat in order to maximize
your weight loss.
Calories
The
success of any diet comes down to simple science. You have to
find a way to burn off more calories than you consume. While most
raw foods are very low calorie while still managing to be filling, some
raw foods, such as seeds and nuts, can be very high in calories.
While seeds and nuts are important source of protein and healthy fats,
it is actually possible to gain weight if you make them the focus of
your diet. So make seeds and nuts a supporting player in your
diet, rather than the star.
Space Out Your Meals
When we typically think of daily meals, we think of breakfast, lunch,
and dinner. But eating three large meals throughout the deal isn’t
actually the most effective way to lose weight. If you really
want to lose weight you should eat five to six smaller meals throughout
the day. This will help supercharge your metabolism and help your
body burn off even more calories naturally.
Limit Sugary Carbs
On a
raw food diet, you consume a lot les sugar than if you were to eat a
lot of pre-packaged meals. Even so, it is possible to consume
a great deal of sugar from fruits. While there is obviously nothing
wrong with munching on an apple, eating a diet too heavy in sugary fruits
can slow you diet progress. This is because high levels of sugar
cause you insulin levels to spike, which in turn encourage your body
to store fat.
So you should try to hold back on eating a ton of high
sugar fruits such as pineapples, pears and grapes, and concentrate more
on eating vegetables and low sugar fruits such as tomatoes, guava, cantaloupe,
and plums. The one exception to this rule is right after
you workout. During this time you can actually benefit from the
sugar rush that many fruits can give you.
Exercise Too
If you
really expect to effectively lose weight and keep it off, dieting just
isn’t enough. You should also include some exercise into your
daily regimen. Even if you don’t feel like you have the time
for exercise, you should at least try to get something as simple as
fifteen minutes of walking in a day. If you don’t want to buy a gym
membership, consider purchasing a cheap pair of interchangeable dumbbells
to do some weight training.
