4000 Years Of The Noni Fruit

Noni was virtually unknown outside the Pacific Rim until the 1990's. Hawaiian noni was first marketed as a health supplement in powdered capsule form and later as noni juice. More recently organic noni fruit has become popular with healthy eaters including the raw food community.

The Ancient Noni Fruit

Over four millennia ago, seafarers from Southeast Asia launched their dugout canoes and headed east in search of a new homeland. They carried with them “canoe plants”, deemed essential for their survival in the new land.

These included noni, a fruit revered for its superfood like medicinal properties. The noni, a small evergreen plant similar to the breadfruit thrived in the islands of the South Pacific where these ancient explorers settled. It is still revered by their descendents who use noni leaves, bark, root, fruit and seeds for healing.

The Health Benefits Of Noni

The noni fruit contains a nutrient rich cocktail of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, amino acids and antioxidants. The claims that noni juice cures a range of medical conditions are yet to be fully researched by the scientific community. It has however been widely reported that noni:

stabilizes cholesterol at normal levels
increases energy when consumed over a period of time
delivers abundant antioxidants to scavenge free radicals
helps maintain the immune system
helps maintain a healthy heart
supports a healthy cardiovascular system
reduces inflammation
enhances energy and wellbeing

More specifically it is know that the noni fruit contains a rare compound known as proxeronine, a precursor of xeronine, essential for the regeneration and growth of healthy cells.
Proxeronine is lacking in modern foods grown in depleted and polluted soils. Another anthroquinones, damnacanthal, has been studied by Koa University in Yokohama, Japan in 1993 and found to reverse the proliferation of cancer cells.

Noni juice also contains a precursor to melanin, which enhances all body functions depending on melanin. This explains why consuming Noni juice in sufficient quantities has been reported to reverse macular degeneration, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes in some people.

Noni Is Big Business

Tahitian Noni International, the largest noni product manufacturer markets and sells noni health benefits in the form of noni juice, noni cosmetics and even animal care products. Along with over 300 other companies selling a range of noni health supplements and Demand for noni now fuels a multi-billion dollar industry. Little wonder that the  of Tahitian noni is one of the chief agricultural exports of Polynesia.

Criticism Of Noni Juice

In recent years, some unscrupulous MLM marketing scams have emerged to take advantage of the rapid rise in popularity of noni and noni juice as a health product. Some noni juice has water added despite claims of 100% pure noni juice. Lack of regulation means you must research carefully any noni products you are interested in buying.
